US Masters Swimming - 2009 Nationals in Indianapolis

This past week I attended the US Masters Swimming Long Course Championship in Indianapolis, together with my coach Raphael Lima and Gregg Podalsky. We represented the Midtown Athletic from Weston, and it as an incredible experience! I've been away from swimming for, humm..., some 35 years, and it's been two months since I decided to come back to training, so I was there for the experience and to know what it takes to be competitive again.

After seeing some very nice people on their 80's feeling like little kids at their first competition, I couldn't stop thinking about how great this sport is, and I'm glad to be back at it. Next year's Nationals will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I have already started training!

Raphael and Gregg did really good and brought some nice medals back home, while I got some experience, a lot of good memories and some photos too. Here are a few of them...

Dear New Friends from Midtown, meeting Ricardo and Raphael at the USMS LCM Nationals in Indy was one of the highlights of the event. Ricardo thanks so much for all the pix and video. Raphael thanks so much for all the support and tips, it helped a lot. Jen and I were thrilled to have met you guys. I am for sure looking forward to swimming in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2010. Ricardo, it's HUGE to step back into competitive swimming during the LCM National meeting (Congratulations on your times!). I am sure you will improve for next year. Let's keep in touch. Swim fast!! Congratulations for your results at the 2009 US Nationals. I am still surprised with your 50 meters freestyle. It was my pleasure to have such a nice teammate like you over there! Thanks for the pictures and video...they look amazing!!! See you at the pool.
